Minnie Hite Moody
Granville native, Minnie Hite Moody, known to be one of Licking County's most famous authors, was born on June 23, 1900 and died Monday, October 25, 1993.[1] She was married to Wilkie Osgood Moody for fifty-nine years before he passed, and they had two daughters: Elizabeth Moody and Mary Lou Moody Prieto.[2]
Moody, who lived on Newark-Granville Road for the majority of her life, is known for her five “nationally acclaimed” novels and her local and national journalism.[3] She wrote for The Atlanta Journal, Newark Advocate, the Columbus Dispatch, and The Granville Sentinel for over thirty years, as well as a variety of magazines, including Good Housekeeping, and Ladies’ Home Journal.[4] An index of her Newark Advocate columns is available at our Main Library.
