Janis Price (February 18, 1933 - present) is a very successful Newark artist. Her artwork, in the style of folk art, or “memory painting,” can be seen on the cover of the book “Cold Sassy Tree,” which is a school text book, and on a bottle of Absolut Vodka. Her first show was in 1978 in the Zanesville Art Center. Soon after this, Jay Johnson recognized her artwork as special and showed her work at his gallery, America’s Folk Heritage Gallery. Her work was then sold around the globe. [1]
