Chickenville is located on Brushy Fork Road southeast of Newark, and lies south of the Licking River. The area got its name from a corn transportation accident. Two horse-drawn carriages, owned by two different farmers, collided at the top of the hill resulting in the spilling of two wagons full of shelled corn, drawing chickens there. In the late 1900s, Chickenville was very well-known for the eccentricity of its residents. [1]
