Sue Scarpitti (July 23, 1952 - present) is a freelance artist and business owner of Ty Mawr Classics. She and Michelle Wherry started the company when they were stay-at-home moms with small children. Through Ty Mawr, Wherry and Scarpitti sell decorative afghans with local history themes. Their business began in 1992 when the partners created an afghan with the local businesses and landmarks of Granville, Ohio. Wherry needed a fund-raising idea for the Granville Parents Co-operative Nursery School, so she found Scarpitti, and together they began to sell the coverlets to hundreds of customers. This soon turned into a business. [1]
