Matesich Distributing Company was formed by George, John, and Matt Matesich in Zanesville, Ohio, in 1929. The company became incorporated in 1933, and by this time, Matesich already had two operations, one of which was located in Newark.[1]

In 1980, the brothers moved the operations to East Main Street and Dayton Road in Newark. By 1998, the company was already shipping 2.8 million cases of beer throughout the nation. This was made possible through an investment of $3 million to add refrigeration to an existing warehouse and provide an additional 39,000 square feet for truck storage and warehouse space.[2]

As of 1999, James Matesich, son of co-founder George Matesich, was acting CEO of operations and administration, and John Matesich, James’s brother, was acting CEO of sales and marketing. [3]
