Mary Ossa (July 24, 1941 - present) is also known as the “cake lady.” Throughout her life, and now in retirement, Ossa has worked as a professional cake baker. She worked for the Granville Inn, Evergreen Restaurant, Buxton Inn, Ghiloni’s Market, and Meijer’s bakery as a cake baker and decorator. She started cake decorating at 16 when she wanted to decorate her own birthday cake. Ossa’s son, Jeff Richardson, used to help her wash dishes, and now his wife, Beth Richardson, learns the craft from Ossa herself.[1]
