John Robinson (1802 - November 27, 1893) was the head decorator of Windsor Castle, carving the throne and mounting for the royal crown of England. Despite his tremendous success, Robinson was forced to move to America after his home burned. In a twist of fate, Joan Grube of Licking County researched a painting she owned that belonged to one of her ancestors, the same John Robinson, who was living in Delaware County. The black velvet painting features colorful flowers. It was a gift to one of Grube’s ancestors; she now proudly displays it in her home.[1]
