Located in the northeastern quadrant of Licking County, Eden Township is a rural township without any towns or villages. It is bordered on the north by Knox County, the East by [Fallsbury Township], the south by [MaryAnn Township], and the west by [Washington Township]. The Rocky Fork of the Licking River dominates this hilly region which is noted for its many small creeks and springs. Eden township was carved out of neighboring Mary Ann township in 1822, and the earliest European settlement dates to the 1810s. [1]

William Shannon, Jesse Oldaker, and Ebenezer Brown were among those first European settlers. [2] The rural nature and picturesque quality of Eden township made it a place for recreation in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries for county residents. [3]
