William Herbert “Bert” Lisle
From Licking County Library's Wiki!
William Herbert “Bert” Lisle (July 26, 1869 - June 27, 1947) was an artist who continues to hold an air of mystery about him to this day. Unfortunately, his artwork was largely burned by the owners of the house where his work was kept. He was quite accomplished, however, studying in New York, Paris, London, Munich, and Boston. After living in New York, Lisle moved back to Newark, Ohio, where he continued his art career. The Robbins Hunter museum had a sizeable collection of his work and held an exhibit from May to August of 1993. [1]
