Phil Resta (May 24, 1926 - June 21, 1995) was once described as a “staunch Republican,” serving as Licking County’s Clerk of Courts. A lesser known fact about Resta was his passion for whittling. Santas were his primary subject, but he has also carved figures of Uncle Sam, Abe Lincoln, and even a landscape scene for his wife, Jane. Resta began carving when he was 12, but lost the hobby, picking it back up again later in life. [1]
