John Niggemeyer (April 18, 1930 - present) took a long break from woodcarving, most of his life in fact, but returned to his artistic passion as a retirement hobby. Before finding his childhood pastime again, Niggemeyer worked for National Graphics, a printing company in Columbus, from which he retired in 1986 due to his health. At that point, he took up art again after being consumed by the events at a woodcarving show.[1] Niggemeyer’s work spans from human figures and animals to intricately carved wood boxes. He is married to Sara Niggemeyer and together they have a daughter. [2]
