Richard McClead (February 1926 - February 6, 2006) was a puppeteer who made his own puppets. He got started with the craft after he bought puppets for his children for Christmas. While they were not interested, McClead was. Soon after, his son told his teachers that his father was a puppeteer, and they promptly asked him to perform for the class. The interest grew until McClead was performing in front of audiences at nursing homes and schools as well as making his own puppets from home in his barn/studio.[1]
