Licking County Library Local History page.
Licking County is located near the geographical center of Ohio. It's history dates back to 1802 when it was first settled by Elias Hughes and John Ratliff. The county became officially incorporated under the State of Ohio in 1833, with Newark as its county seat. The estimated population in 2013 was 168,375.
