Ace News was established by Gordon and Carolyn Gainer with the idea that the paper would cater to Heath and Hebron subscribers and advertisers. The paper was designed to have school coverage for nearby schools including Heath, Lakewood, and Newark Catholic. As the years passed, however, the paper began to shift its focus onto Heath. Due to the change in focus and dedication, the new owner, Nelson Smith, who bought the paper in 1998, changed the name to Heath News in 2001.[1]
